Vision for the project:
My Intentions for this project were to remake the water from the game visually, and make it a bit more stylized, matching the rest of my style.
Achievements
I Managed to create a material that you can put on a plane, that once applied, looks like a water, with waves, foam, and refraction below. I also managed to make it so that when another mesh travelled through the plane, or interacted with it, foam would be made around the second mesh which matched the shape of the second mesh.
Favourite part
My favourite part of this project was learning about a few nodes inside of the material editor, that I haven't used before. I now use this nodes as and when I can in more recent projects.
Challenges I faced
I wouldn't necessarily say a challenge, however, I wish I was able to make it so that the player could swim in the water. Sadly the ability to add custom movement isn't available inside of UEFN yet, but like I said, it was more of a limitation, than challenge.
Results
The result of this project was a material and material instance, with lots of parameters controlling everything from the colour of the water, through to the size of the ripples, and how many ripples there were.
