Vision for the project:

With Easter rapidly approaching, I had the idea of creating a tycoon game designed around the upcoming holiday.


Achievements

I had created a game with a really unique mechanic which no other game had.


Favourite part

My favourite part of this game was doing the level design. As the map has to be explored to collect flowers, level design was a big part of this game, as it had to feel nice whilst exploring as well as being at your plot.


Challenges I faced

A challenge for this project was figuring out the flower picking mechanism for the game. The way the game worked was the player had to go and collect easter eggs from the environment, bring them back to their plot and process them. I had to figure out how to let the player know they had to pick up easter eggs, which was achieved in the end through UI and also a post process material which highlighted the flowers, and how to make the flowers regrow, which was done through cinematic sequences.


Results

Due to the unique mechanic which was implemented, we missed the deadline of Easter and I didn't see the game seeing much success after the holiday, so the game itself wasn't posted. However, I did return to the easter egg collecting mechanism and optimise it as I thought it could be a cool feature to use in a different game.
